Frequently asked questions
DO YOU TRAVEL FOR WEDDINGS AND ENGAGEMENTS?
Absolutely YES! I grew up living in a small town, far away from the nearest city. Travelling far distances is so normal to me. After getting married I had to move even further away from the nearest big city. Even though I live in the middle of nowhere with very little cellphone reception, I wouldn’t change it for the world. So yes! I will travel miles for you. Please contact me about my travelling rates.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
I am a Nikon girl and I am slightly obsessed with my workhorse D810. This camera allows me to insert two memory cards which means that should the dreaded corrupt memory card incident happen, all the images will be saved on a separate memory card. My Nikon D810 is my main camera body and I have a D750 as my backup camera, in case of (touch wood) an emergency. My Nikon 50mm 1.4 lens is on my camera 80% of the time. I sometimes change to my Nikon 105mm macro lens for those crisp close-up detail shots. I also have a 35mm 1.4 which I use for nice wide shots and even some portraits here and there. I recently purchased the 85mm 1.4 and I am obsessed with the images this lens produces…the bokeh and creamy depth of field is absolutely breathtaking. During the ceremony, speeches etc. I like to sometimes blend into the background and capture the reaction from afar and for that I use my 70-200mm 2.8. This lens is quite heavy, but definitely worth the workout because people are less intimidated when I am not all up in their faces 😉
DO YOU CHARGE FOR TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION?
I used to include only 250km into my wedding packages but I am going to do it a little differently in 2021 to accommodate my wedding clients because I live so very far away. For my 2021 wedding collections, I am going to include all the travelling for the wedding, within reasonable distance. Please inquire to determine if your venue falls within the radius of travelling included.
As far as accommodation costs are concerned. Venues further than 100km require the client to pay for accommodation for me as well as an assistant for the night of the wedding if required. If the venue is further than 250km, accommodation will be required for myself and an assistant for the night before the wedding [we need to be rested for your BIG DAY!!] and for the night of the wedding […for those wedding party shots!!]. On the wedding day, please include us in your seating plan for dinner, we work very hard and would appreciate a plate of food and something to drink to keep us going, thank you!
DO YOU GIVE THE RAW/UNPROCESSED FILES?
Unfortunately I do not give any RAW photos or unprocessed files. I put a lot of effort into achieving a certain type of style that makes my photography unique and fits my brand. If I provide unprocessed files, there is chance that my photos will be posted as is or edited in a style different to mine. This type of inconsistency could potential hurt my brand.
HOW AND WHEN WILL WE RECEIVE OUR PHOTOS?
I am a huge sucker for pretty packaging. I want my clients to feel overjoyed and well taken care of when they open their package. Who doesn’t like opening presents? NO ONE!
Your images will be on a beautiful wooden USB in two formats. High quality suitable for printing, and low quality suitable for posting to social media. Receiving just a USB is so boring…so I add a little something special just for you! It’s a secret, so you have to book me to find out what it is! 😉
I take lots of care processing your images…art takes time. Please allow 12 weeks for weddings and 4-6 weeks for lifestyle sessions to be presented online. All of the wedding photographs or material will be ready for collection within 16 weeks of your wedding day. Once you have received your images online, we can start working on the layout of your album. Please allow 2-3 weeks for designing and proofing of your albums and 2-3 weeks for printing and binding.
WE LOVE YOUR WORK! HOW DO WE BOOK YOU FOR OUR WEDDING? HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK?
WOW! Thank you! I am so excited to be part of one of the biggest chapters in your life! #happydancing
The first step is to email me with your wedding date so that I can confirm availability. I will then send you my price and process guide from which you must choose the collection and/or products you are interested in. When you have made your decision, I will send you the invoice and service agreement.
Your date can only be booked once you have paid a 30% booking fee and signed the provided service agreement. The balance is payable 2 weeks before your wedding. When I have received your proof of payment for the retainer fee, and you have signed the service agreement, we can start considering possible dates for your engagement shoot (should you want to do one). In the meantime, I will start working on a timeline for your wedding day. It is important that you wait until I provide you with a timeline before deciding on a time for the ceremony. The best time for the couple shoot will be one hour before sunset, better known as the golden hour. The golden hour will change depending on the season, therefore the ceremony should be scheduled at a time that will allow us to catch that magical light for the couple shoot after the ceremony, group shot and family photos.
